You may wonder why facial moisturizing is essential. This can apply especially to those who may have normal or extremely oily skin. Why would moisturizing be essential to these skin types where the skin is healthy, and the other skin type seems to have too much moisture? The thing is moisturizing our skin is vital to us no matter what our skin type. What if you do not like the way the moisturizer feels on your skin? Then you are using the wrong type of moisturizer. They key is to make sure you find the right moisturizer for you skin type, and yes this included oily skin. Your oily skin and maintaining your skin’s natural moisture are two different things actually. To help us further understand lets take a deeper look into our skin to find out why facial moisturizing is essential.

Inside Our Skin

As you may know our skin has many layers and our skin begins right at the basal layer which is where our skin cells derive from. The new skin cells are born in the basal layer, then move up to the next layer to create keratins and lipids which are what help keep our skin natural moist. The new skin cells move up higher into the dermis layer, then soon up to the epidermis layer to shine as healthy glowing skin. Soon these skin cells die which get sloughed off from our daily washing and exfoliation as the cycle then repeats itself. That is how our skin cell production pretty much works. Skin cells are constantly dying and being replace and this is what healthy skin is all about. Problems arise though as we age and this process starts to slow down. We start to produce less new skin cells which in part have us producing fewer lipids too which remember are what helps our skin, and skin cells stay naturally moist. Our skin cells needs to stay moist to function properly, and create new skin cells. This is why facial moisturizing is essential.

By maintaining our skins moisture when we do start to lose our skin natural moisturizers our skin will still be glowing, and healthy. Also by maintaining our skin’s moisture we can help prevent numerous skin conditions, and problems that can affect us when we get older such as dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, cystic acne, and fine lines & wrinkles. So next time you feel like skipping the moisturizer think about why facial moisturizing is essential.
